Our program objective is to teach fundamental skills for Baseball and Softball in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment while also emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and character.

Students do not need to bring their own bats, gloves, or helmets. We provide all balls, bats, and other playing equipment, which are made of plastic/lightweight material. This program is excellent for introducing newcomers to the game and is also a fun skill sharpening opportunity for more experience ballplayers!

When the school is dismissed our enrolled students are sent directly to their Backyard Rule coach. We take role, fill up water bottles, and then depart for the playing field! After various fun games, drills, and competitions class is complete and we pack up with a few minutes to spare. We walk as a group to drop off the extended day students with their teacher, and then take the remaining students to the parent pickup line to be received by their parent/guardian.

Meet Coach Nate Fudala!

Hello! My name is Coach Nate Fudala and I am so incredibly thankful for the support our community has shown us since Backyard Rule began in 2015. Our players, families, and supporters have generously fueled our attempt to build teamwork and spread sportsmanship by investing in the program and in turn, entrusting us with the responsibility to help shape our participants attitudes, character, and personal growth.

I feel so lucky to have had great coaches when I was young. Very few of them had extensive Baseball backgrounds or pro-level credentials. They simply made it fun and cared for us. Sure, I can remember winning a few games and making some great plays, but what led me to fall in love with the game was the simple joy of fielding, throwing, and hitting a ball.

I am not a big stat guy but here are a few.. About 7% of high school players go on to play in college, but less than 1% receive full-ride scholarships. Even less go on to play pro, and of those that do, even less are paid millions. Sure, your son or daughter may be the next big thing, but probably not. The good news is that almost everyone who plays makes friendships, overcomes failure, and builds character. You don’t have to be the next big thing. Just get out there and play!

Thank you so much for reading and for considering Backyard Rule. Feel free to reach out to me anytime with questions about our program!
